About the Design
“Rosabella, Believe.” These words were Harry Houdini’s secret message to his wife, Beatrice, to be used as proof that he had successfully communicated with her from beyond the grave. The phrase became central to the decade of seances Beatrice held following Houdini’s death, as she continued their attempt to determine whether communication from beyond death was possible.
This hat presents those two words on their own: a private message between husband and wife (and now us) that became part of one of the most famous attempts to test the possibility of communication with the dead. A simple phrase, carrying an extraordinary promise.
